Preparing your paper

All authors who submit to journals in the fields of medicine, biomedicine, health sciences, allied health, and public health are required to adhere to the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical Journals, as established by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE). Additionally, we also direct authors to the publication and research standards outlined in the American Psychological Association's (APA) Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct.

We urge authors to familiarize themselves with the standardized reporting guidelines listed below when preparing their manuscripts:

• Case reports – CARE

• Diagnostic accuracy – STARD

• Observational studies - STROBE

• Randomized controlled trial – CONSORT

• Systematic reviews, meta-analyses - PRISMA

While the adoption of these guidelines is encouraged, it is not mandatory due to the interdisciplinary nature of the Journal.

Structure

Your paper should be compiled in the following order: Cover letter, title page; abstract; keywords; main text, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices (as appropriate), table(s) with caption(s), figures, and figure captions (as a list).

Cover letter and title page will be sent as separate files; abstract, keywords, main text, introduction, materials and methods, results, discussion, acknowledgments, declaration of interest statement, references, appendices, table(s) and figures will be sent in a single file.

Language

While the primary language of publication of CJHSW is English, articles in Turkish will also be accepted; however, Turkish articles must be accompanied by an extended abstract in English up to 350 words. The extended abstract should include a brief introduction, containing the background and objectives of the study; methods; results; discussion, and conclusion. 3-5 keywords should also be included. It is strongly advised for authors whose native language is not English to obtain professional support in translation and editing.

Reviews: Reviews, including systematic reviews and meta-analyses, are prepared by authors with extensive knowledge in a specific field, whose scientific background has resulted in a significant volume of publications with high citation potential. The journal will invite these authors. Reviews should describe, discuss, and evaluate the current state of knowledge or topics relevant to clinical practice and should provide guidance for future studies. The manuscript must include an unstructured abstract that does not exceed 150 words. The manuscript should feature three to six keywords that align with the MeSH terms established by the NLM. References Guide & Citation Rules (APA 7th Edition)

1. General Principles

CJHSW follows the formatting standards of the American Psychological Association (APA) 7th Edition.

  • Accuracy: Authors are entirely responsible for the precision, completeness, and formatting of their citations.

  • Reciprocity: Every source cited within the manuscript body must appear in the reference list, and every entry in the reference list must be explicitly cited in the text.

  • Digital Object Identifiers (DOIs): To maximize online discoverability, authors must include active DOI links formatted as full URLs ([https://doi.org/](https://doi.org/)...) for all sources where a DOI is available.

2. In-Text Citation Rules

APA style uses an author-date system embedded directly within the narrative.

Formatting by Number of Authors:

  • One Author: (Papadopoulos, 2025) or "According to Papadopoulos (2025)..."

  • Two Authors: Include both names every time. (Georgiou & Smith, 2024).

  • Three or More Authors: Include only the first author’s name followed by "et al." from the very first citation. (Christodoulou et al., 2026).

  • Multiple Sources in One Parenthesis: Order them alphabetically by the first author's surname, separated by semicolons. (Green, 2023; Smith & Davis, 2024).

3. Reference List Formatting (End of Manuscript)

The reference list must be placed at the end of the paper under the heading "References."

  • Order: Arrange entries alphabetically by the surname of the first author.

  • Indentation: Use a hanging indent for all entries (the second and subsequent lines of a reference are indented by 0.5 inches).

  • Author Limit: List up to 20 authors in full. For 21 or more authors, list the first 19, insert an ellipsis (...), and add the final author's name.

4. Examples by Source Type
